AUGUST NEWS

We are pleased to announce that we have opened a new satellite office in Daytona Beach to better serve our Volusia County clientele. The Volusia County office can be reached by dialing 386-238-5002.

FEBRUARY NEWS

The Defense Group would like to welcome Peter J. Zies and Frederick W. Trabold as the newest attorneys to join our firm. Both Mr. Trabold and Mr. Zies are fluent in Spanish. Peter Zeis will be handling Orange County cases and Fred Trabold will be assisting our clients in both Osceola and Brevard counties. Pursuant to our team philosophy both attorneys will be involved in defending all of our clients. Please see our attorney section to learn more about our new attorneys.

DECEMBER NEWS

As we bring 2007 to a close, we have obtained an additional tool to better serve our clients in the Hispanic community. Effective by January 1, 2008 clients wil be able to reach our offices by dialing 1-800-INOCENTE (the Spanish word for innocent) Phone numbers heard on the radio or TV or seen on a billboard are hard to remember. This number is easy to remember.

NOVEMBER NEWS

November marked the 20th year anniversary of the first trials in US history in which DNA evidence was admitted in a criminal proceeding. Orlando Channel 2 did a special news presentation marking this historic event. Hal Uhrig, Esq. was interviewed and featured on this special as he was lead defense counsel in these first historic trials in 1987. Time flies. Since that time, DNA has been instrumental in securing the release of many falsely accused prisoners who were sentenced to prison (victims of faulty eye-witness identification.)

The Defense Group would also like to welcome the addition of Jeannie Torres as our new receptionist. Ms. Torres is bilingual in english and spanish and speaks both of these languages very fluently allowing us to assist clients of varied backgrounds. Ms. Torres is usually the first voice you will hear when you call The Defense Group. Ms. Torres directs client calls to the appropriate person so that our clients can recieve assistance in a timely manner.

AUGUST NEWS

WELCOME OUR NEW ATTORNEY: We are pleased to annouce that Javier Chavez has joined our team at The Defense Group. Mr. Chavez will be focusing on assisting our spanish clients, Osceola County residents, as well as becoming a part of the serious crimes unit.

JULY NEWS

NEW ADDITIONS: The Defense Group welcomes its newest members Warren Turner, Esq. (a former prosecutor and experienced trial attorney) , Jessica Rodriguez (our new Receptionist) and Ms. Priocilla Zapata (our newest Legal Assistant)  to the Group.

Mr. Turner previously spent a number of years with the office of State Attorney for the Ninth Judicial Circuit, handling varied assignments in both Orange and Osceola Counties. He had a private practice in the Sarasota area and most recently spent a year out of state. Our clients will benefit from his 30 years of experience.

Ms. Rodriguez is fully bilibngual in English and Spanish and is the friendly voice you are most likely to hear first when calling the firm. In addition to handling the duties at the Reception Desk, she also assists the Letgal Assistants with their duties.

Mrs. Zapata brings a remarkable resume to her position as our new bilingual Legal Assistant. She has a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Florida and she earned both a masters Degree in Education and a law degere while residing in Puerto Rico. In fact she is licensed to practice law in Puerto Rico but has chosen Florida as a better place to raise her family. We are thrilled to have her with us to serve our clients beetter.

OUR NEW OFFICES

Our most dramatic news is the relocation of our main offices from Altamonte Springs to our new building in Maitland, Florida. Located in the Keewin-Lexington Park office complex at the intersection of Maitland Blvd. and Maitland Avenue, our new address is 230 Lookout Place, Maitland, FL  32751. We are now settled into our new 5200 square foot building, from which we continue to serve the Central Florida area.

This past year we have also opened three additional offices to better serve our community, concentrating on the needs of the residents of Central Florida. Beginning in February, we will be able to meet clients at our satellite offices in Kissimmee (one block away from the courthouse), Tavares (two blocks away from the courthouse), and Titusville (near the county jail). It will be our pleasure to meet with you at any of these cities and assist you.

Our new phone numbers are now prominently displayed throughout our website for your convenience. We provide legal services to 10 Central Florida counties. For those counties that are not included by one of our four office numbers, our toll free number 1-800-NOTGUILTY not only makes our number memorable, but permits clients to contact us at our expense.

RIGHTS CARDS NOW AVAILABLE

The Defense Group now has available, FOR FREE plastic cards that contain valuable information concerning your rights when you are stopped or approached by the police. These cards will fit nicely behind your driver's license. The information on this card can help prevent a conviction for a criminal charge. INTOXILYZER 8000 TRAINING

We are happy to report that two of our DUI Team members, Mike Rudisill and Hal Uhrig have recently returned from being certified as Intoxilyzer 8000 Operators. The Intoxilyzer 8000 is the new instrument that has replaced the Intoxilyzer 5000 which was used throughout all Central Florida agencies to test for breath alcohol in a DUI. We are committed to seek the latest and best possible training to ensure that your attorneys are prepared to defend you.
